Whether I’m designing a learning module or baking a loaf of bread, I approach everything with curiosity, care, and a desire to understand. To me, learning isn’t a task – it’s a rhythm that shapes how I live, solve problems, and create meaning.
Hideki Masuda is a seasoned Instructional Designer and respected educator with over 25 years of experience at the intersection of Industrial Design, higher education, and innovative learning design. With a strong foundation in Industrial Design, Hideki brings a unique blend of creative problem-solving, systems thinking, and pedagogical expertise to every project he leads.
Throughout his distinguished academic career, Hideki has worn many hats — professor, curriculum architect, academic leader, and digital learning strategist. He has not only taught and mentored hundreds of students in Industrial Design but has also played a pivotal role in shaping programs from the ground up, aligning curriculum with both industry standards and evolving educational methodologies.
Recognized for his ability to translate complex concepts into engaging learning experiences, Hideki has led major initiatives to modernize traditional studio-based and lecture courses into effective asynchronous online formats, ensuring pedagogical integrity and learner engagement in digital spaces. His deep understanding of both the technical and human elements of design education allows him to create learning environments that are immersive, intuitive, and inclusive.
In his role as an academic department leader, Hideki has overseen program development, faculty training, accreditation preparation, and strategic planning — always with an eye toward innovation, quality, and student success. As an Instructional Designer, he continues to blend design thinking with instructional best practices to craft scalable, future-forward learning experiences that bridge disciplines and empower diverse learners.
